Our absolute favorite weekly self-care rituals

Trust us when we say that taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do! It is so important to take time each week for yourself and to replenish your energy. Especially when you are living in the city, the environment around you can take a toll on your mental and physical well-being. This can come in all shapes and forms, but we like to start with our skin as it is our physical barrier from the world! Your skin is the reflection of your internal self, and lets be honest, it just feels so nice to cleanse and moisturize.

So first off, rinse your face with warm water and then cleanse your face with a moisturizing face wash. Lather in a circular motion and then rinse with more warm water – remember when drying, pat don't rub! After the cleanse, apply a hyaluronic serum followed by a squalene oil or moisturizer. You can even extend the moisturizer onto your neck as it also suffers from the effects the climate has on our skin and we don't want that to happen!

You can even include a face and hair mask in your routine. Masks are a nice excuse to relax, and not leave your house. Clay masks are great for restoration and can be used any time of the year! We've also been loving masks with rosehip in them recently – plus they smell amazing! Nothing like taking care of yourself and indulging your senses

Next, meditation! If you are new to mediation, it may seem very unappealing to sit in the same spot in silence for more than 10 seconds let alone 10 minutes. However, meditation is a great way to clear your mind and the stress you've undergone in your week. It is also a great reminder that you deserve quiet time filled with peace. You can even burn your favorite incense or candle, as long as you are present and you enjoy the moment!

Lastly to relax, make yourself a pot of a mellow herbal tea and get ready for ultimate relaxation. We recommend putting your phone away at least 30 minutes before bed so you can ready your body for sleep. We've found that scrolling social media and texting away before bed left us feeling stressed and alert, the opposite of what we want. Sleep is the foundation of our wellbeing and it is crucial to get at least 8 hours of sleep in order to feel balanced. 8 hours may seem like a lot, but once you try it you will never go back!
